Kate Hurren CRM5 MAR

Clinical Reflexologist

Stress is the root cause of many illnesses and conditions, therefore, making sure we are balanced is key to having a healthy body & mind.

Having worked for years in a London office job, commuting each day and raising two young children, I fully appreciate the day to day juggle and stresses of life.

I discovered the profound benefits of Reflexology, and now I am passionate about sharing them with others.

Personally, I have always enjoyed having Reflexology treatments, to de-stress and re-centre, and during pregnancy, Reflexology was a huge support for me. This enjoyment led me to making the decision to train as a Reflexologist.

As a qualified Reflexologist with a Level 5 Diploma (the highest regulated qualification, recognised by the NHS), I specialise in:

  • Reflexology for Fertility, Pregnancy and Menopause
  • Reflexology for Cancer, Palliative & Chronic illness
  • Neuro Endo Psycho Immuno Pody (NEPIP) – an effective treatment for stress & anxiety
  • Hand Reflexology
  • Face Reflexology
  • Zone Face Lift
  • Acupressure Ear Seeding
  • Dermalux LED Phototherapy

Each treatment is tailored to your unique needs, helping you to de-stress, restore balance, and feel your best.

I am fully insured and a registered member of the Association of Reflexologists .

About Clinical Reflexology

What is Clinical Reflexology?

Clinical reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy, based on the belief that your feet and hands are a reflection of the systems in your body.

Applying gentle pressure to either stimulate or soothe the reflexes, can bring a state of relaxation by reducing pain and anxiety, and promoting circulation, which in turn helps the body & mind to re-balance and begin a healing process.

The below links will help you to visualise how our hands and feet mirror the human body.

What conditions can it help with?

Many health conditions can benefit from reflexology, here are a few examples:

Stress & tension, sleep disorders, back pain, digestive issues, fertility – men & women, maternity & natural induction of labour, post natal, hormonal imbalances, menopause, skin conditions, headaches & migraines, allergies...

The list goes on!

Clinical Reflexology is for all ages:

Clinical Reflexology is safe, non-invasive, and is suitable for all ages, from babies through to the elderly.

Please note that Reflexology should never be used in place of seeking medical advice and is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have any health concerns or illnesses, you should always consult your doctor first.

A reflexologist does not diagnose, cure or prescribe.

Frequently asked questions

What happens during a treatment?

Reflexology can be applied to the hands or feet and just past the ankles, dependent on each individual’s needs. You will just need to remove your socks, roll your trousers up slightly and relax in the chair. I will offer you blankets, pillows and a weighted eye mask if you wish!

I will then cleanse your feet with a hot towel and apply Reflexology balm to begin the warm up sequence.

Please don’t worry if you have ticklish feet! The pressure and techniques I use should enable you to relax and enjoy the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

It really depends on the individual – everyone is different! I recommend a full investigatory session for your first treatment. This allows me to identify any reflex points which are out of balance, that you might not have been aware of. We can then go through my findings and I can create a bespoke treatment plan to suit your needs, ready for your next treatment.

Some people can see an improvement immediately but sometimes it can take longer. Often the benefits can be seen after 3 to 5 weekly treatments but we can discuss what I feel would be beneficial for you. After a course of treatments, some clients choose to have a monthly maintenance treatment.

Or, you might just want to see me for a one off treatment, to benefit from some relaxation!

In summary, the frequency of treatments are entirely up to you and your own personal preference. It might be once per week, once per month or even once per year.

Does Reflexology hurt?

Reflexology is meant to be relaxing and not supposed to hurt, however, some areas on your feet might feel a little sensitive or tender, and this is usually due to an imbalance. I will adjust my pressure, to make sure that you feel comfortable.

Are there any side effects?

Many people feel instantly energised, positive and calmer. Before this happens for some, the body’s own natural healing process may cause some temporary symptoms for 1 to 2 days, such as, increased urination or bowel movements, decreased energy levels, cold like symptoms.
